Demand growing for nurses with master's-, doctorate-level degrees

The Institute of Medicine has recommended a twofold increase in the number of nurses with doctorate-level degrees by 2020. The IOM said an aging population as well as the need to manage conditions such as diabetes are the primary factors driving the demand. A Rand Corp. report found that doctor of nursing practice degrees are being offered at more than 250 colleges.
